What is Fructose?
- Fructose is a simple sugar that we use as a source of energy. It is the sweetest of sugars and is found in fruits, honey, and sap. The sugar in these fruits is what attracts people to the eating them and having a healthy lifestyle. It has the same chemical formula as glucose but they differ in structure, however it is ofter found with glucose in nature. They are both formed in equal amounts when sucrose is hydrolyzed by the enzyme invertase of by heating with dilute acid. The end product of thins is a major component in honey.
